We are sure you have all been enjoying the summer, catching your breath during a short pause in the singing calendar, and enjoying a cool pina colada by the pool.
It was a wonderful spring and summer season with the choir, enjoying venues such as the Bath Bandstand, the joyful Joint Concert in Andover, and of course our annual summer concert.
Thoughts are now turning towards the autumn repertoire, and the run-up to our annual concert in December. However before Christmas Rehearsals begin, there is a little bit of summer business still to conduct, and a few more performances to look forward to.
Two of these form part of our Choir tour; and the first is with Solent Male Voice Choir at St Faith's church in Havant (more details on the poster). Solent Male Voice choir is a traditional TTBB choir, just like us really but with Blue Blazers. They were established over 30 years ago by postmen working in the local sorting office, and currently have 35 members. You can get a taste of their singing via several YouTube videos, such as the compilation above.
The next day sees us at St Mary's church Winchester, in a joint concert with the Winchester A Cappella (more details on the poster). Winchester A Cappella are a women's four-part choir from the Winchester region who sing a mixture of modern ballads and up-tempo numbers, all sung unaccompanied. They have about 35 members, and you can see their showreel here.
Both of these concerts look like being really fun!
Then our final run-out of the summer repertoire will be a joint concert with West Wiltshire Young Singers, led by our own Musical Director, Kate Courage, at the stunning Holy Trinity Church in Bradford-on-Avon. This is a magnificent building, with excellent acoustics, and free parking just over the footbridge (full details on the poster). We were there last September, and entertained a full house with a wide and varied repertoire. In the final joint number of both choirs (Rhythm of Life) we had an 80-year age gap between the youngest and oldest performers! This is one not to miss.
We will all meet again on September 7th for our first rehearsal after the summer, with a focus on getting ready for these concerts. Then the Winter repertoire will be introduced at our rehearsal on September 21st. Concert dates are already fixed for the season so follow this link to see them.
