A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our '20 Mendip Men Needed' campaign. We set out to recruit 20 new singers to the choir and raise sponsorship money for Prostate Cancer UK. We’re delighted to report that we’ve actually welcomed 22 new members!
What an amazing response! Every section of the choir is getting a fantastic boost! At our first rehearsal this term, we had around 65 men show up — and that’s not even the entire choir!
So with rehearsals in full swing, we work towards our autumn concerts and, of course, our annual Christmas Concert on 18 December 2026.
There’s plenty of work ahead, particularly for our new members, who have the exciting but challenging task of learning new songs and arrangements in time for Christmas (see, we said it was a challenge!). They’re discovering what it means to sing as part of a large male voice choir — the teamwork, the camaraderie, the occasional musical challenge and, above all, the sheer enjoyment of making music together!
Together, we’re making a great sound for a great cause!
