You are very welcome just to turn up to a rehearsal, but we sometimes break for holidays or occasionally change our rehearsal venue!

No previous experience of singing in a choir is required, or even the ability to read music. The Mendip Male Voice Choir is an inclusive group, welcoming all male singers who will sing to the best of their ability.
You can sit and listen for your first visit, or join in the fun from the beginning! After an initial chat with the Musical Director, we have Section Leaders who will look after you.
LEARN A NEW 'UNIVERSAL' LANGUAGE: we will help you understand basic music notation, which will help in your appreciation of the printed music
GAIN CONFIDENCE: try something new and perform in front of a supportive audience. This could be a "bucket list" moment! You will never be asked to sing on your own either in rehearsal or concert; imagine the thrill of being part of a 70-strong choir!
LED BY PROFESSIONALS: both the Musical Director and Accompanist are professional musicians with over 60 years experience between them, with much previous experience in choral music and male voice choir repertoire.
CHALLENGE YOUR PERCEPTION: we don't just sing hymn tunes - our repertoire covers most genres with music written by living composers or arrangers; our performance uniform is bright and eye-catching, helping the choir to sing to the best of their ability
FIND SOME 'ME' TIME: turn off your mobile phone and escape your emails - give the excuse that you will need to concentrate on the music during the two-hour rehearsal (and maybe a little longer for that all-important chin-wag in the local afterwards!)
BE PART OF HISTORY: the choir has already celebrated its Centenary year in 2019, a significant milestone worthy of shouting about!
An annual subscription covers most expenses: the choir performance uniform and sheet music. You will not need to pay during the term that you first visit. Payments can be spread over the year, or by a simple one-off payment.
The Choir is one of the largest male voice choirs in the area with around 70 members and we regularly perform in and around the Mendip area, both raising money for charities or joining in with another choir's programme.

I have recently joined the MMVC and I have now performed in several concerts. I really wanted to join in and I was readily welcomed, assigned to a voice section and shown the ropes. The choir is exceptionally friendly, fun to rehearse and perform with and everyone looks out for you to help you settle in. After rehearsal socialising was an unexpected perk!
