Raising Money for Charities
Figures collated for 2019 reveal that the Choir has helped to raise an amazing £9,491 during our year of performances.
In 2018, the Choir helped raise £8,500 for local and national charities.
This brings the overall total of charitable donations to over £50,000.
The charities the Choir have supported are:
Help for Heroes
Children's Hospice South West
Bath Young Carers
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance
Wiltshire Children's Breakaway
Trinity Methodist Church Funds
Riding for the Disabled Association
The Margaret Coates Centre
RUH Bath Forever Friends Appeal
RUH Cancer Appeal
Camerton Hall Refurbishment
Chilcompton Carers Association
St Philip and St James Church, Norton St Philip Bell Fund
A cheque for £2,620 was given to representatives from the RUH Forever Friends Fundraising Team at our Annual Summer Concert, 2019. The money raised was following the collection at two of our concerts: our September concert at St. Mary's Church, Bathwick where we performed with Cantilena and Vox in Frox and another concert with the Jenny Peplow Singers.
Gillian - All Saints Church, Publow
I am just writing to thank the choir for an excellent concert last Saturday evening. All who attended thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The choir sang brilliantly and I hope the remainder of your season is as successful as our concert.
The proceeds of the concert amounted to £1,062 which is to help fund our replacement boiler, hopefully to be installed this week! We are delighted with the result.
Children's Hospice South West
The choir have supported CHSW for some time and took part in a Somerset Male Voice Choir extravaganza in Wells in 2017. We even produced the "Shining" CD in 2014; The title track from the CD was specially composed by Mendip Male Voice Choir's previous Musical Director, Kate Courage.
The sheet music for this lovely piece is available from BaBa Productions. There are versions available for TTBB, SATB and SSA. As with the CD, all profits from the sale of the sheet music are donated to the Children's Hospice South West.
The Margaret Coates Centre
The Mendip Male Voice Choir sang with The Minuendos at All Saints Church, Weston, Bath for the first concert of their Summer Season of 2014. The concert raised over £850 during the evening, of which over £400 will be given to The Margaret Coates Centre - a primary school in Bath for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other associated disorders.
